2025 AVERT International Research Symposium
This year, we are pleased to collaborate with the Vox-Pol Network of Excellence and the Terrorism and Social Media (TASM) Conference to deliver this year’s Symposium. The annual AVERT Symposia offer a valuable platform for knowledge exchange, research translation, and interdisciplinary networking between academia and industry. It aims to foster meaningful dialogue and collaboration among government policymakers, practitioners, technology sector representatives, community organisations, and academic researchers, with a focus on the prevention and countering of violent extremism online
We welcome proposals that provide insights on how these changes impact our understanding of online radicalism's harms, risk assessment practices, and policy responses. Proposals that include collaborations with practitioners or industry, reflect on or offer policy and practice-based guidance, or otherwise demonstrate policy and/or practice relevance are especially
Call for Insights: Highlighting New Voices
GNET are seeking proposals from PhD students researching the nexus of technology, violent extremism, and/or terrorism. These Insights will be commissioned as part of an upcoming series to highlight new and emerging academic voices in the field.
This series aims to highlight new and emerging academic voices in the field and is intended for those actively enrolled in PhD programs. We particularly encourage women and students from underrepresented regions to submit proposals.

Call for Proposals: Canadian Network for Research on Security, Extremism and Society (CANSES) Funding Opportunities
CANSES is accepting small and medium project proposals until 31st October, 2025, and large project proposals until July 31st, 2025.
CANSES funding is primarily aimed at supporting policy-relevant research projects and initiatives that are smaller in scale and short in duration (i.e., deliverables are normally due three to six months from the date that the contract is signed).
Projects must:
Directly address issues related to extremism, radicalization, disengagement, or preventing/countering violent extremism, terrorism, and counter-terrorism;
Be relevant to the Canadian context;
Include timely and actionable insights for policymakers, practitioners, and/or other specific stakeholders; and,
Be original research.
